The Conservatorium offers four competitive non-means-tested scholarships. The winner of these scholarships receives one 30-minute lesson per week for the Conservatorium year. The following scholarships are offered:

  • Jean Grace Gray Youth String Scholarship,
  • Jeff & Hazel Lee Youth Piano Scholarship,
  • Tamworth Regional Conservatorium of Music Youth Instrumental Scholarship, and
  • Tamworth Regional Conservatorium of Music Vocal Scholarship.

We are pleased to welcome Christopher Allen to adjudicate the 2021 Scholarships. Chris has recently finished as a senior lecturer in Voice at the University of Newcastle, NSW. He is well known as a baritone soloist with many choral institutions such as Sydney Philharmonia Choir, Newcastle University Choir, Willoughby Choir and Coro Innominata. Chris appeared as a guest artist with The Song Company for many years in concert and radio broadcasts and appeared with Opera Australia as an understudy and chorus member. He also toured extensively for Musica Viva with the Song Company and the early music ensemble Sounds Baroque. Chris enjoys presenting programs of art song and lied and has presented concerts of English Art Song and Schumann’s Dichterliebe together with pianists Peter Guy and Erin Sweetman.


The auditions are presented in a concert style, and adjudication is open to the public. Please bring your family and friends for an exciting afternoon of music.
